Want to be involved in a community of social entrepreneurs?
Hatch is offering 6-month fellowship positions, which are a great way to get involved in the community, and it’s especially ideal for those who would prefer to contribute time to Hatch instead of paying monthly membership dues.
Here’s how it works: Fellows commit to working at Hatch 10-20 hours a week for 6 months, and in return receive a year-long membership. This means they get to use the space for their own endeavors for a full 6 months after their fellowship ends (a $275/month value). To be clear, this is an unpaid position, with in-kind membership as compensation.
All fellows are expected to do a mixture of tasks: their focus area work (which they select), hosting (i.e. being at or near the front desk, ready to answer questions or point people in the right direction), as well as some odd jobs (tidying, watering the plants, helping set up and take down events). We want fellows to focus on an area that they’re personally passionate about, with career development in mind. This is a mutually beneficial opportunity, where fellows can get the experience they need while positively contributing to a non-profit.
Some of the main skills we are looking for are:
- Marketing, communications and outreach
- Graphic design
- Membership and community development
- Web development and WordPress
- Writing, journalism, media (video and photo)
The type of person who thrives as a fellow will be motivated, reliable, creative, autonomous and ambitious. These are roles with a lot of freedom, and the possibility of really making an impact in people’s lives. If a fellowship sounds like it might be right for you, please send an email explaining your interest to [email protected]
If 10-20 hours a week is more time than you have, we are always on the lookout for volunteers who might contribute on an occasional basis. We regularly need people to help with events, hosting, and an array of fun projects, so if that appeals to you please also get in touch!
